my little ladies need a new home.... and a proper home they shall get. on a very fortunate thrifting journey, i found just the thing. almost.

so, this is the bare bones. the starting point. the skeleton. anyways, i decided to go with a wood stain, instead of paint. i think it gives more of an antique finish, something a bit lived in. you can find all sorts of goodies in the paint section. so, i settled on a color called antique jade. i'm on a green kick right now. i'm not sure where it has surfaced from, but i'm just going with it...

ahh... the tools of mass destruction. as it turns out, the purchase of the two sponge brushes was a smart idea. you see, the trick is to get the big one a bit saturated, and leave the little one dry. this will come in handy when you have to slop up the globs of paint that pool up in the corners. i don't' know if it was just because this isn't really 'paint' and more of a finish, but its liquid as water, and sorta finicky. either way, patience is also in tall order...

this is coat number one. ya, shi-tay. needless to say, i settled on another coat. which means, paint on with one brush, smoosh around with another.... very tedious, but well worth it... just wait...

after two coats, i left her to dry in the hallway. she's lookin' pretty good.....

just in case. you can never be too sure of your neighbors nosey-ness. i mean, this is now a priceless piece of art, just calling out to you... i figured the note would ward off any jealous people. that, and the paint was still wet.

the next day, my darling dearest does his handy work to make sure its level and straight. notice the itty bitty level on the bottom. on the floor. you can't see it from here, but the floor of the apartment, is not level....

at long last, my ladies are safe and sound. home sweet home.......fin.
